Good Evening everyone!
I have decided to take a poll and I would like to have some help from some of you if you don't mind. We all know that the Generic for Subutex was approved by the FDA in October. Since then I myself haven't heard of too many Suboxone providers prescribing it.
Actually I am wrong on that, most of the providers that have prescribed it have given it to pregnant women. Or patients that are allergic to Naloxone
I talked to someone that works as a pharmacy tech in a local RiteAide near where I live. She told me they really haven't had many prescription for the generic. "Most doctor just don't like the idea of prescribing it. They are afraid of not only the abuse potential but they are also worried about diversion."
That is in my area which is the Northeast Region of the U.S.
We have members here on the forum from all over the U.S. If you will, please ask your provider on your next visit (only if you are comfortable in doing so.) Their opinion of the new generic Subutex and if they are in favor of prescribing it to manage addiction.
Check also with the pharmacy (again, only if you are comfortable in doing so.) to see if doctors in your area are prescribing Subutex instead of Suboxone.
You can either post your findings here on the forum or send me an email. My email address is:
