Suboxone Questions Empty
PostSubject: HELP   Suboxone Questions EmptyMon 24 Aug 2009, 4:25 am

Hi my name is Marie,
I registered, but, not sure if I'am registered. I tried to sign on and it brought me back to register again. So,I'm hoping this will get to the proper place.
I have been on Suboxene for 7 months. I have messed up really bad. The last 6 weeks I have gotten off my schedule. I was on opiates for over 12 yrs. due to health issues and became addicted. I was up to 30 pain pills a day.
Now,I'm in trouble. There is no way I can tell my Dr. I have screwed up AGAIN. My next appt. is not for another 10 days. Come Tues. I will be out of my Suboxene.
I don't know why I can't do the right thing. I'm so disgusted with myself. I don't want to go back to where I was, but,I don't seem to be able to do this either. I'm scared I'm one of those hopeless addicts.
I know that the withdrawal is not going to be pretty. I was to take 8mg. 3 times a day.
If anybody has any suggesstions I would greatly appreciate it.
I wish I could just run away, but,I know my butt will follow me.
Thank You
Marie

Suboxone Questions Empty
PostSubject: Re: Suboxone Questions   Suboxone Questions EmptyMon 24 Aug 2009, 4:30 pm

Hi Marie,
My name is Dee and I am one of the moderators of the forum. Don't beat yourself up over what has already happened. There isn't anything that you can do to change the past, but you can work on your future.
About your registration for the forum, what was the user name that you registered with? If you can tell me that I can help you sign in under that name. No problem there.
In order for you to be successful at your recovery you need support from people that have been there so you have come to the right place. We will do what we can to help your understand what it is that makes it so hard for you to stay away from opiates.
So you have a support system at home? Are you in any counseling?
I have to tell you that unless you are in counseling it will be harder that it should be to get and stay on the right track. But let's start with what is going on now.
You said that you will be out of your Suboxone on Tuesday. How many do you have left right now? Is there any way that you can take smaller doses of your medication to help stretch it out a little bit more?
How is it that you are running short of the Suboxone? If you are taking more than 32 mg of Suboxone in a day it is not doing you any good. Suboxone is useless so to speak after 32mg. Anything- onlinework after that will not help you. So it is a waste of Medication.
Have you messed up any other time since you have been taking Suboxone? Is the same doctor prescribing your Suboxone as the one who prescribed your pain medications? It might be worth a shot for you to try and get into the doctor sooner rather than later.
Are you in a lot of pain when on Suboxone?
As you can see I have so many questions for you. I am not trying to be nosey but trying to get the whole picture in order to try and help you. If these questions are too personal and you don't want to answer them on the forum, you can either send me a PM or email and we can talk then.
Please rememebr that you are not alone. We are here for you.
Let me now how you are doing.
Yours in Recovery,
Dee

Suboxone Questions Empty
PostSubject: Re: Suboxone Questions   Suboxone Questions EmptyMon 24 Aug 2009, 10:49 pm

Hi Dee,
Thank you so much for responding to me.
First i registered in the name of Marie.
I had gone to a Detox about 7 months ago. From there I went to out pt and had been going to After Care. I started off going to NA. I just did not like it there. I went to AA which I have liked. However,I have stopped. I'am a very outgoing person and b/c of some things at NA I think I may have just clammed up and distanced my self from AA as well.
I have a different Dr. for the Suboxene than I had for the pain meds. The Suboxene have helped with my pain,I think.I do take Motrin as well.
I was to take 3 pills a day of the Suboxene, but,I guess I thought 6 would be better. I don't know,I just get so tired of being tired and feeling like crap that I figure that will help. I was reading some posts here last night. I saw where one of you had said about addicts feel the need to take a pill. Something in that nature was said. I guess that's me. I have been in and out of recovery for yrs. I'm just sick of this ugly monkey on my back. After I wrote last night I actually, felt better. Just to be able to be honest to someone.
As far as support at home. Yes and no. My husband is glad I'm off the pills, but, that's as far as it goes. There is problems with us as well. That's a whole different story.
I've noticed that I'm not getting out the way I was. I had a sponsor but since I was not wanting to stay in the group they were in she dropped me.
There is no way I can go to my Dr. before my next appt. Which is not until the 4th of Sept. By then,I'll probably be finished or close to with the withdrawal. Then I think maybe I shoud not go at all. I know if I get off it for too long there is a good chance I'll go back to the opiates. I do not want to do that.
I want to do the right thing. Like I said maybe I'm just one of those addicts that never recover. I had such high hopes when I found the Suboxene. bottom line is,I'am a idiot. No excuses, period.
I hope I answered all your questions,if not please ask them again.
Nothing is too personal for you to ask me. I'm just so thankful to have found this site.
Surely, there are others out there that have screwed up with the Suboxene. How did they get thru?
Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me.
Blessings
Marie

Also,I did not know that if you took anymore that it would not do anything for you.

PostSubject: Re: Suboxone Questions   Suboxone Questions EmptyTue 25 Aug 2009, 8:15 am

Good Morning Marie,
I went and checked the member list of the forum, I don't see a user name for Marie.
But that's really not a problem, could you please re-register? If you will do that I will activate your account.
Sometimes things get lost in cyberspace and we don't know why.
I have to run out this morning for my appointment with the Suboxone provider.
I will answer your posting when I get back home.
Hang in there, I care
Dee

Suboxone Questions Water_17

Hi Marie,
My name is Beth & I was just reading through your above posts & wanted to say hello & welcome to the forum, "home"! A place where you can just lay it all out & others who are in, or have been in, your shoes of opiate addiction can give you feedback on your situations, as well as vice versa. I absolutely love this forum, as its almost like a journal, but it gives back the info that you are searching for & needing answers about. I have been taking the Suboxone since May of 2008 & I can honestly say, without a doubt, that this medication has saved my life. It hasn't been an easy road, but nothing worth anything comes easily. We started referring to the Suboxone awhile back as a "life saving, miracle medication!" Marie, I have to tell you this though. The Suboxone is a medication that has a "ceiling dosage" which means that the most that you can take & get the therapuetic reaction is 32mgs. That is four of the 8mg tablets daily. After that, it will not help you any further. In fact, it may make you feel worse... No Most people that I know of that are taking it don't even need the full 32mgs. Have you ever tried just taking the three per day for a period of time? I don't want you to think that I am getting on your case or anything- I know how our addictive mind thinks. A bottle of pills for a non-addict person would say "Take 1-2 tabs every 4-6 hours" and that is just what they would do. Yet for us, (the addict) we seem to read that label a bit differently. In our eyes those instructions seem to read "Take 4-6 tablets every 1-2 hours & then we'd still "push it" to see if more made us feel even better. Twisted Evil At least, that's been the case for many of us. But, Marie, with Suboxone, it's different! As I'm sure that Dee will explain to you much more thoroughly, as she is very educated about this subject. But she always has this saying about Suboxone that "less is more!" And it's true! Idea You actually feel better on lower dosages, as you don't have nearly the same amount of side effects. (headaches, decreased libido, that "restless, irritible" feeling, etc, etc) But to answer your very last question in your above post, you are surely NOT the only person that has overtaken their prescription. I hope that you will continue to read about that though, as many who have began that way have realized that Dee was correct about less being more!
Are you also in any type of counseling? I heard you mention that you were attending NA, then the AA meetings, but I don't even want to get started on that subject that angers me so very much. I know that they do not consider you "clean" if you are taking a maintanence medication. Evil or Very Mad I don't understand that train of thought, as they are the first to tell you that addiction is a disease, but then why aren't you able to take a medication to control that disease? Does that mean if someone in AA or NA has diabetes & they take insulin to control it, then they are also not sober? BS!!! As I said, I am quite opinionated regarding those meetings because I tried them at first also. Mad I get so much more from this very forum, as well as my counseling. That seems to be the "working combination" for those of us on the Suboxone or Methadone. I hope that you'll consider some of these thoughts that I am throwing out your way, but as I said, when Dee returns from her doctor, she will give you the whole scoop. I just had to throw my two cents worth in also. I've learned so very much from this forum that often times I feel like I'm trying to "teach" my providers about info that they didn't realize or forgot during that eight hour course that they have to take to become a provider. You will get information overload by just continuing to read through this precious forum. The more you know, the stronger you can stand when it comes to some of these providers. I've been a member here since last November & wouldn't even know where to begin to let you know how much knowledge I've acquired since joining here. There are great people that are members, full of support & encouragement, that will help you in any possible way that we can. Thank you to Ms. Deborah Shira for making this forum possible! Like a Star @ heaven
Marie, I am happy to see that you are posting & have become a member to this very special, friendship forming forum. After Dee responds to you, I'm sure that you'll understand much more than what I was trying to say, but I just wanted to let you know that I am happy that you have made it here & look forward to hearing more from & about you soon! I don't believe that you are that hopeless addict that can never change, as you'd stated above. If that were the case, you wouldn't have bothered coming here for more help! I definately believe in you, as well as every one of us who have made it thus far throughout this horrific addiction! I love you
Please do keep in touch!
Yours in Recovery,
Beth I love you

PostSubject: Re: Suboxone Questions   Suboxone Questions EmptyTue 25 Aug 2009, 6:53 pm

Beth,
Thanks for all the info you provided me.
I had no idea that after you took more than 32mgs. it did nothing for you.
Next time I get my Suboxene I'll know better. It seems I have not been educated on this at all. I'm so thankful to have found this site. It feels so good to be able to be honest.
I guess I better get myself into counseling. I'am a survivor of Hurricane Katrina and shortly after my Mother die. Since then,I just lost myself. More than before. I'm not using that as an excuse. It's just that I noticed after that my addiction got way out of hand.
I'm praying I'll not be too sick till I get to see my Dr. I'am also praying I don't take any opiates while waiting on that appt. I have to go 10 days.
I appreiate all the info and kind words from all that have answered me.
Blessings,
Marie

PostSubject: Re: Suboxone Questions   Suboxone Questions EmptyTue 25 Aug 2009, 10:19 pm

Well, the posts I posted came up.
I'm having trouble registering. I'm concerned about posting again until I find out why I got a banned notice.
I really need this site.

I now know that I have not educated myself on the Suboxene. I'm going to do that along with finding myself a counselor. I plan on doing anything anyone suggest to me.
I do have a question or two.
I have several health problems. I've been told if you take pain meds it will make you sick or not work at all. My concern is,if I was to have a accident or surgery while I was in the hospital will the pain meds work?
I'm going to look thru the site and look for more info to educate myself.
Also,I would like to buy the book Lori's Story. Can I buy it in a store or here?
Thank you so much for all those that have answered me.
I would like to be a member, just can't seem to get myself registered.
Blessings,
Marie

PostSubject: Re: Suboxone Questions   Suboxone Questions EmptyWed 26 Aug 2009, 3:29 pm

Thanks Dee,gee that must have been either before or after I got on Suboxone. I'd love to find that posts to see where I was.
Girl,I'm so confused to find my way around here. LOL I'm sure as time goes I'll find everything. I'm not sure where to look for the answer to my question.
I called my Pharmacist this morning and asked him if you would let me have a few Suboxone since I was out. He gave me 8,8mgs. He knows how much trouble I was in before with the pills and has told me before he was so glad to see me on the Suboxone. I'm going to cut those up so I'll have something to take till I get to see my Dr.I feel so good just to know that taking more is a waste.
Thank you for all your help. Just as soon as I find my way around,I promise not to be such a pain in the butt.
Blessings,
Marie
I'll have to learn how to get me a avatar as well.
So much to learn.

PostSubject: Re: Suboxone Questions   Suboxone Questions EmptyWed 26 Aug 2009, 11:50 pm

Good Evening,
Maire, I'm glad we were ale to straighten out the problem you were having with logging in.
Your pharmacist sounds like a real gem. There aren't too many of them like that anymore. I feel much better knowing that you will be bale to make it to your next appointment before running out of Suboxone. Just remember the golden rule: "Less is More" or at least that is my golden rule. I'm not sure how many people will agree with me and I am certainly not a doctor but I speak form past experience. I'm going to tell you something that I shouldn't but I will anyway. Now that you know less is more, I wouldn't let your doctor know that you can get by on less. That way if anything should happened and you find yourself in a bind or without a provider for some reason you will have the extra tablets stored up.
I know that when you go to your appointment and fill your prescription it may be hard for you not to take more than you are supposed to since your mind is conditioned to take pills. There is a way around that. You can re-train your brain. Instead of taking an extra pill when you feel the need to, substitute a vitamin instead. Only one though. You can also try eating a piece of fruit. Grapes work well for that. Your not the only person with that problem.
About the forum, give yourself some time.
The more you come here and post the better you will get at finding your way around. Before you now it you will be a pro.
http://www.suboxoneassistedtreatment.org/50.htmlThe above link will take you to the section of the website that talks about treating acute pain while taking Suboxone.
Stay with us Marie. I can promise you that as long as you are here you will not only receive support, but make life long friends. Sober friends.
By the way I did check to see if you had posted in the beginning when you first registered, but you hadn't. Your registration date is February 20,2009. I would be more than happy to help you with your avatar or even to put an image in your display picture. let me know if you need the help.
Yours in Recovery,
Dee
