| Hello everyone,
I've been really busy that last 3 days, and I'll be busy until Monday. I just wanted to let you all know I'm doing ok still. I've had several episodes that have bothered me over the last 2 days. It comes on suddenly a feeling of being very cold. The cold that can only be described as withdrawal cold. It comes on and suddenly spreads over my entire body. I get so cold over my entire body to the point that it's painfully cold. This lasts for about 15 minutes then I become very very vulnerable to pain. Everything I touch hurts, I can't even take my shoes off unless I carefully untie them and slip them off, it hurts to much if I use my other foot to pry the shoe off. It seems to go away after a couple hours, but it's concerning me. In general everything is going ok except for these episodes. I've had a handful of pretty severe cravings, but nothing that I couldn't handle.
Please let me know if any of you have experienced anything like this please, I get really worried and start obsessing if I can't find answers...And please let me know what has worked for you if you've experienced something like this.
I hope everyone is doing ok, and I'll talk to you soon...

| Hi There, I have gone through all sorts of changes since I began Suboxone. One minute I'm fine and the next I'm in a whirl wind of depression, panic and basically don't feel well. For the last week it's been pretty easy. I still don't have interest in things any more. I use to do a lot of things I enjoyed, but now I have to force myself to do anything. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. All I can say is to hang in there and it does get better with time. Your mind needs time to repair. Try to think good thoughts and do things for other people to help them out and it will do you good. Talking about it helps and just have faith you are going to be okay. You deserve to a life of goodness. Love, Barbara | |

| Hello particular, It is good to hear from you as always. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems. I can remember when I first went into recovery I did have a few problems with my health, they were nothing like the ones that you just described. I found that the problems I had were ones that I had all along but were blocked out by my use of opiates. If you don't start to feel better, please make an appointment with your doctor for a complete medical checkup. Including a blood work up. It may probably be nothing to worry about, but it is better to check into it rather than ignore it.
Your cravings should not be intense right now. What is your dose right now? Have you lowered it any? How did your doctors appointment go? Or did you have it yet? Sorry to be full of questions, but that is me. I have to run for a while, my sons friend brought his lap top over as he is having some problems with it. I told him that I wold look at it for him. Although I have a feeling that he is doing to much gaming on it. I will check in later. Yours, Dee

| Hi Honey,
It sounds like you have an unbalance in your system; whether it be vitamins, allergies, or inflamation in your stomach or even in your brain. I would start out getting a complete blood work up. An infection anywhere in your urinary tract can through you off. I had a ringing in my ears and went to a specialist. He told me to take extra B Complex, which I got some liquid B Complex I take as I do the Suboxone. It had helped tremendously. There could be toxins in your system effecting your brain. You need the right amount of proteins and eat the right foods. Eat early in the morning...eggs. What we eat effects how we feel. If your body won't work means your brain isn't working. Take care of your body. Find out the levels of lead and mercury you have in your body. It could be hormonal. Did you know they didn'y know about womens' hormones until 1926? Exercise is better for your brain than any antidepressant. Laughing and walking will make you feel so much better. Walk for 30 minutes a day. Even offer to walk a neighbors dog. Breath in for the count of five and exhale at the count of five. Do this for five times a day. Avoid eating after dinner. Learn to live clean and eat green. Turnips, broccoli, any green vegetable and drink the juice. As an addict, I have insulted every organ in my body. It takes time to repair and your mind to trust you aren't going to do it any more. Lastly, have your thyroid checked. This is like the thermostat to your body.
I'm in hope some of this works for you. Nobody like to find out something's wrong with our body, but you could be catching something serious which could give you better mental focus.
You take care you. Yours in the struggle, Barbara

| Thanks for all of the information Dee/Barb,
I had all of the medical things done 2 months ago, they're still trying to find out what's causing my joint problems. The doctor is a autoimmune specialist and did every test in the book. I give back a lot, which was why I was so busy that last three days, I was doing a charity event. I've been trying to walk every day, walking helps me in other ways too since my joints are still causing me problems, nothing like before, but I get really bound up if I don't use them enough.
This is without a doubt withdrawals. I've only experienced these symptoms while in withdrawal from the opium. Of course the cold lasted for 8 days as did the sensitivity to pain. It's very strange however that it comes on suddenly as if I've been in withdrawal for 24 to 36 hours. I go see my Doctor the 14th and I'll discuss this with him. I'm on 32 mg a day still, if I try to cut back I start going into withdrawals. I've even tried going 24 hours after taking 32 mg and I start having withdrawals around 16 hours, so I'm continuing 16 mg 2x daily to keep the dosage more consistent.
This is really bothering me, I so hoped that I would be one of those people that could get by with 4 mg, since Suboxone is 30-50 times more potent than heroin. Now I'm having fear that I'm going to be stuck on the suboxone, which will still be much better, but I'd hoped it would be very little of it if that was the case. I'll quit rambling now...

| Particular, Don't let it get to you that you are on a high dose. I know that is not what you want, but right now it seems that it is what you need. You are still early in your recovery, it will probably take a little longer for you to be able to taper down to a lower dose. The first time I kicked Heroin, I did it cold turkey as you know by my story posted. Even after a month I still had lingering withdrawals. They weren't as bad as in the beginning of course, but they were still there. If I remember correctly it took me around two months to get to where my leg didn't ache, and I didn't get cold chills. Have you done research to find out how long the opium stays in your system? Please give yourself and the Suboxone some time, it will get better. I know your probably tired of hearing us say that, but it is true. I will get better. Yours, Dee | |

~Your Partner in Recovery, ~Particular... Hi Particular, As everyone, sorry you are not feeling well. I remember the cold so very well! If I were kicking cold turkey it would be at least a month before I could feel warm again. I also had terrible cramps in my calves especially. I am one of the lucky people in that Suboxone worked so incredibly well for me right away. I have been on 32mg for 14 months now and personally don't care if I stay at that dose for the rest of my life. It is simply a part of day like taking my daily supplements, vitamins, etc.. The one thing I may do differently is that I do not take my entire dose once or even twic a day. I spread it out over the course of the taking one pill (8mg) four times a day. I have done this from the beginning and have had great luck with it. It is not a big inconveniece for me, no one even has to know I am taking one (have gotten very adept at subtley taking the little things . The most important thing I do is that I do not think of Suboxone as the one and only key to my recovery. I feel that I have a duty to help it along, so to speak. As soon as I started feeling better I began a new life altogether. I began an intense exercise program - I started out walking, and could barely do a block. Now 14 months later, I run an average of five miles 2-3 x's weekly, I do a combo of Tai Bo, kick boxing, and yoga. It sounds like I spend all my time exercising, but not at all. I just fit in into the course of my day. I eat really well now, lots of fish, chicken, fruits and veggies ( don't I sound like an ad for a health retreat ). It all pays off in spades though and really seems to work in conjunction with the Suboxone. If I lay off and just take the Suboxone, I feel the difference immediately! Point is just that I feel as if I should do my part and not just rely on the drug. I have tried coming down over the year and it just didn't work for me, so why change what's working. I hope you find the combo of things that make you feel great. I believe you will as you seem very motivated to change your life! Never stop trying new things and have a great day! Beinok

| Thanks again guys,
Beinok, it's funny that you said you take them spaced out. My doctor prescribed me 1 tablet every 6 hours. Perhaps he knew more than I gave him credit in my case. He did do a complete workup on me (asked a lot of question about how, when, and variations of my habit). His plan was very different from almost all of the other plans I've read about, so I just started taking them like the other people. I've tried 32x1 mg, 2x16, and even 2x1 and then 1x1 12 hours later. so I think I'm going to give the original prescription dosage a try and do the every 6 hours and see if this goes away. The problems do seem to start around 8 to 10 hours after a dose. Perhaps I can even get away with less if taken more frequently. I know that ultimately it really won't matter if I have to take them the rest of my life, and I forget to think about the important gifts that suboxone is giving me. As I've said I have a problem seeing the forest through the trees, I have a tendancy to get caught up with little insignificant things that distract me.
My thanks to you all for giving me your support and helping me see the forest in my recovery.

~Your Partner in Recovery, ~Particular... Hi Particular, I was thinking of your story last night and realized I don't really know it! I know that opium is your drug of choice, but I don't know how you found that drug, etc.. You have probably already posted your story, but I can't seem to find it ( or maybe it's not here). I'm not trying to be nosy (well, maybe a little bit , but I am interested in your story. Whatever you feel comforting revealing would be interesting to know. Hope you are feeling better and the spaced dose helped a bit. Beinok

I also realized that I have not posted my own story yet and should probably get around to doing that. day. Actually (I know this is the wrong place for questions) but since I have you, so to speak, I have been having a lot (daily) of headaches in the mornings. I have been on Suboxone for quite awhile so it seems kind of late to blame the drug, however, when I take my first dose it seems to go away. Have you ever noticed this? Have a great day! Beinok

| Beinok,
Obviously I've only been on Suboxone a short time, but I had a constant headache for the first 7 days, but it finally went away, and I haven't had anymore yet. I know this probably doesn't help you, but for me suboxone did have a headache side effect in the beginning.

| Hi Beinok, I have noticed that if I don't take my Suboxone first thing in the morning I will get a headache. So what I usually do when I get up is I have my first cup of coffee, then I get into the shower. But I usually put my Suboxone under my tongue right before I get into the shower that way by the time I am finished with my shower the tablet is dissolved and I am good to go. I don't know why but that is what works for me. I do know that in some people the naloxone causes headaches. Sometime they have headaches so bad that they end up switching over to subutex instead of Suboxone therefore avoiding the naloxone altogether. I hope that I have been of some help to you. Yours, Dee | |

| The hardest part of giving advice is because everybody is different. A headache for some people can mean too high of a dose. It can be a reaction from the medicine itself. It can be from anxiety from not knowing if the medicine will work right away. It can be stress from the influx of going from using and abstinence from our drug of choice. If I don't get my coffee in the morning, I'm off-key and with a headache...even though my coffee intake has slacked off. I feel this medicine can effect us to not be as interested in other things in our life. I wish it would work with my smoking, as I seem to smoke more and more. Ryan, if I can be of assistance to you, please reply...when you feel up to it. We are here for you. Yours in the struggle, Barbara | |
