There is actually a $50.00 discount card that you can use at the pharmacy if you need it in order to get enough Suboxone to get you through. It's called a co pay card but anyone who has an out of pocket expense on their Suboxone can use it.

You know your body, you know how you feel. It you believe you in a full withdrawal, I would consider taking the Suboxone. MY advice, you saw Marie advice.

Most Dr dont realize we can be in withdrawals withing hours of our last pills.

i made it 18 freaking hours. I am 2 hours into my first dose. I took 1/2 a pill...blah then took the other half and feel better. no more withdrawals but definately feel like I got hit by a truck. I tried to pour myself into my husbands car to go to our daughters Lacrosse game (they are in playoffs from an undefeated season) but I just couldn't do it. tell me how everyone felt the first day. Oh, and he prescribed me 16 but said try to take one and 1/2 a day. hope someone is on.. need some love!!

by the way...i never want to feel those withdrawals again...I didn't use the COWS sheet because I dont really get the yawning and half the other stuff on that sheet...just feel like a massive flu invades my body along with shaking legs and dialated pupils...it was awful.

For me personally, I felt great right away.
I know for some people it takes time. Please don't get discouraged. You will NEVER have to feel those withdrawals again.

Your Dr means that you might not need the whole 16mg once your stabilized. I wouldnt worry though that if for today you did need the whole 16mg

Hi. absoulutely no withdrawals...just feel weak. took a shower and now i'm down stairs waiting for the family to come home...my heart is racing a little and I',m off but I'm wondering if its because I put myself thru the ringer all day.. I think I'll just stick with the 8 for the rest of today and see how I feel in the am. Since I know 8 works do you think I should just take one whole pill in the am?

When do you take yours? And do you take it all at the same time? I really don't know what I would have done without you guys these past few days...

I take mine in the morning when I get up. I only dose once a day. It's good to get into that habit eventually, (but take your time doing that) so we get out of the habit of taking a pill just to feel better.

Here are some tips for taking your Suboxone;

Stabilization can take a week. It’s better if you don't change your dose around alot during this time.

• Keep a journal of when you take your Suboxone, how much you take and how you feel. That can help you and your Dr in finding the best dose.

• Tips for taking Suboxone. (I learned these the hard way !)

-No caffeine or smoking Cigs for at least 30 minutes before taking your Suboxone – they both may constrict the blood vessels that the medication is absorbed through.

-Right before taking it, rinse your mouth out with as warm water as possible – this could help dilate the blood vessels for better absorption.

• If the taste bothers you, try putting a mint or Tic-Tac on the top of your tongue while the med is underneath.

• There may be urges at the beginning of treatment. See if you can correlate them anything. Do they come at the time of day when you would be taking your former drug of choice (DOC)? Pinpointing why the cravings are happening is the first step in learning how to deal with them !

Wow Blue!! Thanks so much for those tips. Especially the coffee...best bet would be to take it upon waking and then have coffee after. My mind is running around with everything that needs to be done because I was down for a day and I feel a little strange..but I'm glad this is over. My father just emailed to say he was coming here (MA) on Friday and staying until Monday for my girls graduation... I immediatlely emailed him back and told him to come on saturday!! I think I need to just get used to this one extra day before my 80 year old crazy father and his wife arrive..ugh! Like I said my biggest worry is this weekend because I have to be functioning but it's only Wednesday and I can't believe how much better I am now than I was only 2 hours ago.

So, even though I feel fine, you think I should take another half before bed?

You will soon realize you wont be coming down off pills ever again !

I'm on the strips and like them way better than the pills.

Did you have to pay for them yourself or did the Ins. come thru for you?

I've thought about you several times today and hoping you weren't going to wait too long.

So,he has you on 2 pills per day. I've noticed that some start out at 2 and some at 3. I don't know if I could have made it on 2 a day in the beginning,but,if you can feel normal with the 2 then that's the way to go. Dee,has always said,less is more. She's right about that.

My first day I felt really good. I wanted this so bad and I felt so crappy that anything had to be better than what I'd felt before the Suboxone.

That being said,I think it could take a couuple of days to feel better. The emotional feeling we go thru along with the WD takes a lot out of us.

ok. my last post ran away, so I'll try this again. Marie..thanks for your thoughts and for thinking about me. I am ok right now on one pill. I'm going to see how it goes I'm deciding whether or not to take another tonite. Its always there if I need it. I can't believe I have abo 30 oxycodones in my purse and don't care...wow thats amazing. the insurance came thru just as my daughter was there picking it up for me... it cost $50 which was way nicer than $280. In fact she saw me last around 1130 this morning and was blown away when she came in tonite that I was "up and running" again. While my kids will never know the extent of my recent additiction issues (I was taking all types of prescribed pain meds for 14 years and my problems began last september when I switched from ultram back to vicodin..the dr didn't know what she was doing so I was looking for more and found it way too easily) I am very open about the fact that narcotics suck and you never stay on them more than a couple of days if you need them at all. so she was thrilled that I am up and smiling...not cleaning or doing laundry so they know I'm not 100% yet.

So Marie, thanks for your thoughts...what is your dose now and it really seems as though suboxone saved your life...did your habit start from a pain prescription too??

Isnt it a great feeling not to CRAVE those horrible pills !

My husband had a tooth pulled today and at the dinner table he announced he got a script from the oral surgeon for Vicodins. Everyone turned and looked at me !!!
I'm not going to lie, for a SPLIT SECOND - I thought hmmmm, but honestly, I have zero desire to even see them !!!

It was great to reassure my kids that Mom's doing good !

Hopefully by tomorrow you will feel 100% - it could take a few days.

If you feel okay then for sure don't take another dose.

I've been on a very high dose and we slowly cutting my dose down. I was on 32mg a day. Mostly b/c of the pain. I have Lupus and several other health issues. Many,many surgeries. However,I know it's time for me to come down to 24mgs. and I think she will keep me at that dose for a lil while. I'm almost there. Probably next week actually.

I started with the pills like most of us. Needing surgery and then liked it way too much. I did that for about 21yrs. I always love to see young ppl get off the pills. No one knew I had a problem for many years. We all are capable of hiding it so well.

Please do be careful with the pills you have left. Maybe give them to your husband. You certainly wouldn't get high but if you have a bad day and know those pills are available it could be very easy to try taking them. Just a thought.

I can't tell you how happy I am for you. Your on are your way to your new you and your going to do fine.
Something to keep in mind, Suboxone is a very strong medication so you want to go slow while you go through this first week. It may take some time for you to settle in on your dose. If you feel like your withdrawals are coming back during the night or you are woke up and need to take more, you can. Try starting slow. You can always add but you can't take away from you dose.
Some people feel great on a small amount and others on a larger amount, listen to what your body tells you.
By Saturday you should be feeling much better. I know you feel beat right now but you have just been through a lot going through withdrawal and such not to mention the anxiety of the not knowing.

I took another quarter cause I felt the need to just make sure I stay this way. I will get rid of they oxys.. it wont be difficult. just hand them back to the people who gave them to me.. Blue, how did your kids do with the whole thing? we always want to do the right thing for them, I just wonder how others in my predicament handle their kids.

I do feel pain. It's nothing I didn't feel swallowing pills but I think now that the fog was lifted I'm just more aware. Hopefully, I will be working out again next week (i took the last 8 months off cause I was too busy looking for drugs) and I've had a bad back for so freaking long that I do know what to do to keep it feeling ok.

So now I'm sitting here watching the celtics and listening to my kids and my daughter's boyfriend talking and joking around about graduation sunday...thank God I'm here to listen to it. I'll check in tomorrow and let you know how I am. Please say one more quick prayer Marie that this pill keeps working and I get better everyday... xoxo

My kids at first took it hard. My daughter is to young to realize yet. My son, however knew what the deal was. They both cried when I told them.

I hated hurting them and disappointing them. I want to get better for them !
I want to prove to them I am not the same person I was. I don't sit around stoned all day. I get up, I do things. We go out. I joined a gym. I am down 2 sizes in 4 months ! I look good and feel good.

I want them to learn from my mistakes.
They do understand that this happened because of my surgeries and because I took pain pills for so long.

When my husband brought the pills home tonight for his tooth, my daughter said "I don't like this at all" ! She doesnt even want her dad to take them.

good morning...not a terrific night sleep and woke up at 4 saying where's my drugs until I realized I wasn't doing that anymore....had a bit of anxiety then took my suboxone. I have a small mouth so that large pill barely fits under my tongue!! anyway, back to feeling a little off but I am going to press onward and go into the office today and take it a little easy.

i'm assuming the slight ups and downs I feel today will stabilize to one "steady" feeling as soon as I'm used to the dose.

Blue, thanks for sharing that. You sound like a wonderful mom and pretty soon your son will know you'll be fine and has learned such an important lesson about this crap. I don't know where you are but my kids tell me how easy it is to get pills at school. When my girl had her wisdoms out last summer she told me she could make some nice cash selling them at school....she was joking but that is horrifying. anyway i'll probably post throughout the day for moral support...God knows its all over here, my husband asked me this morning before he left to do about 20 things for him today.... thanks so much you guys....xo

The anxiety will pass. Your old life is over.

As far as the size of the pill, you can cut it in half and take 1/2 under your tongue, let it melt and then take the other 1/2.
Just a thought.
Your going into work today? That's great ! And yes, you should stabilize once you get use to just feeling "normal", We all forgot what that felt like !!
