| Hello to everyone... Today reality has set in and I feel very positive about the path I will be taking. Alittle about myself..... I've been married for over 10 years and we've been together for over 20 years. My wife is truly an angel. She's been there for me thru the greatest of times and the very worse of times. The one most important thing that we both share is the trust the we have for each other. She will also being going to and getting treatment with me tomorrow. She will at some point be opening up and sharing her struggle with all of us. Been on Oxycontin for 3 years now and it has totally taken my life away from me. My withdrawls are very severe. My last Oxy will be taken no later than 6:00 pm tonite. We both lost a very dear friend this past Monday..our pet dog "Kobe" Kobe was a Shiba Inu, 13 years old, male. He had a brain tumor and became very ill during these past weeks. Kobe fought hard to the very end and let us both know it was time to go. It was such a strange feeling. We've been struggling each and every day and the pain at times are overwhelming. As the days go by it does get a little better each and everyday. So as we both move on each and everyday I hope that I can share with everyone the ups and downs of our struggle to get clean. Korbeshkie | |

| Korbeshkie, It is wonderful that both you and your wife will be seeking treatment together. Has she already joined our forum? She is most welcome. We will be here for her just as we are for you. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your pet Kobe, our pets are our families, they ask for nothing but love in return for the love they give us so freely. I'm sure that although you will miss your little buddy, you also have amny great memories.
About tomorrow, you both are going to do fine. I will be waiting to hear from you both. Yours Dee | |

| Hello Korbeshkie, Kudos to you & your wife!! Your whole life is going to start changing for the better tomarrow!! What a relief!! I know that it will be difficult in the morning time for you until you get that first dose, but as soon as you do, you will be amazed at how quickly you start to feel "normal" again!! I am so happy to hear that you both will be starting it, especially together, as I continue saying, you'll both just be amazed!! I am looking forward to hearing from you tomarrow evening to know how you are feeling & what you think.. It's wonderful that your wife & you have made this decision in unison, as I believe that it could only help to improve any opiate addicts' personal relationships, much less, both of yours together!! Good for you guys!! Please keep me posted as to how you are doing & do remember that if you are having cravings or withdrawls, simply talk with your doctor about adjusting the dosage to get you to that comfortable level. On this medication, you should NOT have either cravings or withdrawls. I did not realize that when I first started taking it & my dosage was not nearly high enough to help subside the withdrawl pains at the beginning. Now, I am on less than I was, even at that starting point, & I feel pretty good on most days!! LOL! I KNOW that I am a whole lot better than I was while I was using the OCs, that's a fact!! It's such a huge weight off my shoulders, I feel like I can stand up straight again! Have a wonderful, relaxing night & best of luck to the both of you in the morning at your appointments!! You will not be let down. Your Friend in Recovery, Beth | |

| Beth, you just made me laugh. I thought about how an opiate addict walks. It looks like their head is trying to get there before their butt does. It's hard to explain, but I can tell an OC addict a mile away. It looks like they are walking with the book on the back of their neck instead of on top of their head. It is good to walk with your shoulders back and your head up. Another friend in recovery, Ms. Barbara | |

| This is a test to see if I can type something in Word and then copy and paste. I will be deleting this momentarily. I am adding something here as an edit to see if it works now.
Thanks!

| Hello samigirl56, Thanks for your thoughts...it has been very difficult since Kobe has passed away 2 weeks ago. It was more difficult when I had to put down my 19 year old mix australian shepard "Friend". I was with her when they put her down and i'll never do that again. With Kobe they took him away and brought him back so that we could mourn in private. It was much better. My wife and I have been in treatment for 2 weeks now and are very happy with how we are progressing. Tell us a little about youself if you'd like. Take care Korbeshkie | |

| Hi Korbeshkie, I also stayed with my dog when he was put down. I been A Vet. Tech for years. I seen alot of animals being put to sleep but it is still very hard when its your own dog. I been doing pretty well with the suboxone treatment. The only problem I am having is going to NA and AA meetings. They seem to think you are not really clean unless you stop taking all drugs including ant-depressants. But my Doc still wants me to go. On a Happier note I do alittle bit of dog grooming. My friend owns a small shop and we been working together off and on for the last thirty years. I can't see myself working a job without animals. I have 5 dogs at home including two rescues. I live with my old high school sweet heart. We reconneted about eight years ago. I am on suboxone because he has to take morphie and hydrcodones, He had to have quite a few surgeries on his back but he does not abuse the pills but the temption was to much for me. Now I only think about those pills every once in a while. I have to go for now . I hope you and your wife are having a great evening. | |

| Hi Beth, I really like your picture of the puppies. I am doing good. It is pretty cold here in NY. It is about 8 degrees right now. I hope you are staying warm. I hope your babies are better now. They must keep you very busy. I have 5 dogs that I considered as my kids since I don't have any. If you don't mind me asking what are you going to be going to school for? I might be going back for a short time to pick up on dog grooming or some other animal related stuff. I do part time dog groomimg now. But I still need to learn more. Well I have to go for now, I have a support group I have to go to this afternoon. Have a great afternoon. Thanks for writing me it makes me feel good that there are people out there that really care. | |

| Hi Cathy, I'm glad that you are getting to go to some support groups, as well. How do they act & treat you regarding being on the Subs? Are they encouraging or not-so-much? That's the only real issue that I've ever encountered with any of these types of groups. Hopefully, your having better luck with that! My babies are starting to feel better. Thanks for asking! They seem to be on the upswing of it all, (keeping my fingers crossed!) now I just need to get their sleep schedule back to normal! But it's soo nice to not have everybody crying all the time any longer. They're starting to get back to normal & enjoying coloring, reading, blocks, just playing again! They are the reason that I put those puppies in my picture space. This morning when I was looking through them, my 2 year old, Caroline, saw the puppies & was laughing, saying how "tute" they are, as she can't pronounce her C's yet. Then, my little guy, Matty, is a year & a half, he starting barking & bobbing his head. I thought that their reaction was so funny, so I chose it to continue showing up. It sounds like you'd certainly have your hands full with 5 dogs!! Do they live inside as well? What breeds are they? What are their names? We have a black lab, Chloe & she lives in here with us. She's so smart, its like having another family member. This time of year is always hard though since she can't get out to run like she normally does & needs to. Its been 2 degrees here today, with the wind chill well into the negatives. Brr!! What part of NY do you live in? You probably know all too well about these cold temps!! I am starting back to school for a social services degree. Originally, I'd started for Pre-dental school, majoring in Biology, so many of my classes will transfer. Yet, I've not been to school in years now & am hoping that I can pick it right back up! I'm really excited about going back, as this has been a long term goal for me & makes me feel like I'm actually moving forward in my life rather than falling back again!! What type of classes will you take when you go back? Do you have to get certain "Continuing Education" courses to remain a dog groomer or can it further advance what your able to do? What other types of animal related stuff are you refering to? Do you have anything specific in mind? I'm going to close this up for now, but will be checking back in awhile. It was nice to hear from you & hope you had a good day!! Your Friend, Beth | |
