PostSubject: Re: Sharing with each other   Sharing with each other EmptySun 11 Apr 2010, 8:49 pm

Hi George and Cathy,
It's sunny and partly cloudy today. I think we are going to go right into Summer. It was 90 degrees one day last week. Cathy, where are you from, if you don't mind me asking. I'm in Florida, a little town outside of Orlando called St. Cloud. I live out in the manor and it's country. They are surely building closer and closer. I can hear cars on the main road where they have cleared land for homes and stores.
George I'm so glad you are making amends with your parents. I'm glad you feel well enough to go over to their house and cook dinner. You are a good person.

Please answer when you will. I love conversing with you guys. It's my therapy. I get my help from helping others. This just made me think of something. Before I got E Pass to go on the freeways, I use to go through the apy lane and pay for the person behind me. This gave me a thrill to do this. One time it was my boss and he told everyone on the show what I did. I normally kept this between me and God. I dfon't get to do it anymore cause I just drive through now. I'll have to think of another random act of kindness to do each day.

Bye for now, I'll be up for a while and checking the forum.

Yours to love,
Barbara

Hi Barbara and George, How are you George? Your MIA! I think that is a good sign and your out and about.

Barbara, to answer your question I live in New York. Just outside of Rochester in a small town. We are in the country too but there is alot of new housing going up here too. My dad and stepmom live near Ft. Meyers Florida. That was very kind of you to pay for peoples tolls that must of made their day. I remember once I was at the checkout at a store and a person behind me paid for my purchases. I just bought a few things but it was a surprise for me to think that somebody was that kind.

I'll talk to you guys later. Love, Cathy

Hi Cathy,

Good morning and I've got a few minutes to get to work. I wanted you to know I read your post and as usual, it was a joy. It's wonderful to feel joy. I thought I had lost it forever. It comes and goes, but at least I know it's still there. How about you? Do you have joy?

Have a joyfull day,

Hi Barbara and Cathy,
I know what you guys mean about conversing back and forth. It is like therapy in a way. It's kind of cool here today but real sunny. We have a freeze warning for tonight though. But at least winters gone for sure. I think I'm going to cut my grass today. I love to work out in the yard. Today my wife and I were sitting in back and a lot of birds were around. We even have activity in some of our nesting boxes. So peaceful watching the birds.

I was reading Barbara's post about a small town outside of Rochester. I dated a woman a long time ago that I met online that lived in Churchville. It was a really nice town with a lot of farm land. I remember one time we went to the Lilac festival in Rochester. That was so cool. They had so many different kinds. That relationship ended due to the distance but we are still good friends.

It is really nice that I have understanding parents. My mom and dad have done so much for me over the years. Our relationship has grown so much. When I was a kid I had a lot of anger and resentment towards them. My enviornment consisted with a lot of alcoholism, physical, mental, and emotional abuse. At 25 I got sober and worked the steps to the best of my ability. I did a very thorough personal inventory, 4th step, and through working the rest, I didn't have that anger anymore. I realized that my parents had done the best they were capabile of at that time. I learned forgiveness and acceptance. I also had to deal with my part in the whole thing. I was no angel back then.

It's been worth it and I would not change anything in my past. I can say that doing all of that work has paid off and I would not be the person I am today.

This next journey with Suboxone has been a life saver for me. I knew that I could not stop on my own or even with God's help. I now know that live will be so easy and happy with that monkey off my back.

So have a nice day everyone and I will continue to be here. This forum and the people on it have pretty much saved my life. For that I am grateful.

George

P.S. I am hopefully returning back to work next week. Sharing with each other Icon_cheers I can't wait to make some real money. Plus I am bored sometimes. Peace...

Hi George, How did the grass cutting go today? It was sunny here too but on the cool side. I sent you a PM about Rochester and Churchviile. Were I live it is rural. But they put a Walmart store in now there are houses and condos popping up here.

I am happy you made peace with your past. I guess the twelve steps do work! I do have the big book but I am not sure that would help me. Maybe I should give it a read.

Hi Barbara, How was work today? I'll catch up with you both tomorrow. I am getting really sleepy. Sharing with each other Sleep Cathy

PS: Congrats George on going back to work next week!

Hello George, Cathy, Barbara and all of our other members,
It is great to see everyone sharing their days.

It has been tolerable here as far as the weather goes, although I could use a few more warm days. The sunshine I love, the cold I can do without.
Today is a nice sunny 49 but they say it will be 61 before the day is over. I went over to Wal-Mart on Saturday to check out the bird baths, I wanted one so bad last year but didn't know where to put it as my neighbors children have a habit of breaking things. I am the kind of person that even if something of mine gets broke I won't say anything because I always feel the need to keep the peace. So I opted to go without.
But on Saturday I did see two small bird baths that I fell in love with and decided I would buy them and I did. Yesterday I went upstairs to see my neighbor to talk to her about where I wanted to place them in the yard. ( We share the front yard) I ended up speaking with her room mate who assured me they would be safe, and that not only would the birdbaths be safe this year, but the chairs that I put it on the porch as well.
We decided that I would take the left side of the yard and porch as well. We have a small yard but a large railed in front porch. Large enough for any chairs, a swing and whatever else you can think of.
Maybe it is trivial for me to talk about this here on the forum but it is something that bothered me so much last year and I don't want this year to be a repeat. I am looking forward to planting the flowers and rose bushes, looking at the birds that come to the feeders and just relaxing.

Cathy, about the big book and twelve steps. When I was going to AA/NA I never really got into the steps. I know that I should have but to be honest, I didn't know how. I couldn't understand exactly what they were saying. I found a book, "The Twelve Step Journal" it is worded in a way that I was able to comprehend the twelve steps.
I have a copy of the steps, maybe it will help you.

I hope you all have a great day, it looks like we are going to have another sunny one here.
Yours in Recovery,
Dee

Hey everyone,
What a nice day. I've been sitting out on my front porch all morning enjoying the warm feeling of the sun. I got up fairly early today and had my coffee outside and just watched the birds. We have cats also so it's pretty crazy when they go out first thing in the morning. They immediately head to the back yard to stalk the birds. They never catch one though. Too slow I guess. Or too fat. Glad that you got a bird bath Dee. I have one that is attached to a big tree about 7 ft up so if the birds need a drink, the cats can't even think about an ambush. Most of the feeders hang from branches also. I think my favorite birds are the cardinals. The male goes to the feeders and the femal waits in the shrubs and gets fed most of the time. It's going to be tough going back to work after all of the peace and relaxation I have had over the past few months.

I went to my Dr today and had the usual urine test and stuff. He told me that I am doing very well and now I am in the maintenance part of my recovery. I don't have another appointment for 2 weeks. I guess when enough time goes by I will only see him once a month. I feel good. No cravings, or bad thoughts. No side effects. It's been a long time since I even had a thought about the way I used to live my life and thats a good thing. Well...I'm going back outside for the remainder of the day. I hope everyone feels good about their life as I do.

Talk with ya soon,

George

Hi Everybody, It finally got warm and sunny today it was in the high 60's. Tomorrow is going to be the same I hope.

George, it is great that you are enjoying your time outdoors with the kitties. Myself I have five dogs so I am alway back and forth from inside the house to the backyard. We have a huge yard that backs into woods. We have bird feeders too but there are more than birds that are coming to eat. We get raccoons and possiums.

Dee, I am so happy you got your bird baths and you will be able to plant your flowers. Make sure you take some pictures over the summer of all your hard work. I am going to see if I can hunt down that book you suggested. I might have it. I bought a few na books and that might be one of them.

Barbara, I know you been working your tuss off. I hope you been taking time for yourself. How are the animals doing? Any baby birds in the future?

I hope everybody has a Great Thursday!

Love, Cathy

Good Morning,
Well today looks like another good day here in Vermont. The sun is shining and I can hear the chairs on the porch calling to me. I might take my laptop outside today to work so I can soak up some of that warm sun while I check the website out.
I have two appointments today one at noon with my counselor and one at one forty with my primary care provider. Although I'd rather skip the second one. I'm sure we won't do anything new.
I finally got my new medication and started my treatment for histoplasmosis this morning. I have been hesitant about taking it. I don't like to take medications. Years ago it didn't bother me. But since going into recovery I don't even like to take antibiotics. I will take this medication as I know it is what is best for me if I want to attempt to get rid of this stuff.

George, It does feel good to be away from work sometimes, but when you get back into your routine I'm sure things will fall into place. Just Eb mindful of triggers and anxiety starters. If you have to, walk away. I know that it is harder to do than to say, but you can do it.
What do you do for work, if I am not being to personal?
How is your wife doing? And the kids?
Barbara, I see you guys are heading into the 80's. Be careful out there in that sun. Remember that your thyroid medication doesn't like the heat very much. I remember because I am taking it as well.
And Cathy, Enjoy the sunshine. We never know when the winter coolness will strike upon us again. As soon as it warms up enough I told Kris that I would give his cat Chocolate a bather for him. He could do it, but Chocolate tries to fight him more that me.
Hang in there Kay. You will get straightened out on your dose. It may take awhile but it will happen.
All of you enjoy the day, and please say hello to all of our new members.
Yours in Recovery,
Dee

Sharing with each other Butter10

Good Morning!
There is no way I am going to get any flowers planted this weekend. It has rained since yesterday and we are calling for snow as well.
I have had a very busy last couple of days, I had an appointment with my primary care provider on Thursday, he put me back on blood pressure medication as my pressure was 177/110 when I was in the office. I also started the treatment for the histoplasmosis this week. But I stopped it yesterday. Shortly after starting it I started having heart palpitations. The last time I had that kind of experience was back in 2008, my heart rate had gone up to 300 beats per minute. My Thyroid was the culprit that time. My doctor had over medicated me.
I have an appointment up in Burlington at Fletcher Allen next Thursday to see the Infectious Disease Specialist, I plan to talk to him about the treatment at that time. I want to see if it was a reaction to the medication. In the meantime I will keep taking the blood pressure medication.
I also have to have an ultra sound done on my Thyroid, the doctor asked me if anyone had ever scheduled one for me. I told him no and he wanted to know why, so I told him to ask his partner as he was the doctor treating me for Hypothyroidism.
Yesterday was a day full of running around and one more doctor appointment. I also went over to Sears to check out their eye glass specials. I had my eyes checked a couple of months ago but even though my insurance covers the exam it doesn't cover eye glasses. I was able to get two pair for 99.00 and they will be in on Monday or Tuesday.
Last night I worked very late on the website. I really have to get the News-Update published. So I worked until I couldn't keep my eyes open, I am going to try and get it finished up this afternoon.
Once it's published I will let all of you know so that you can go over and read it.
If you can think of anything that any of you would like to see on the website please drop me a line. I promise to consider all suggestions.
Pulling together and listening to our readers is what sets our websites apart from others.
I know that I have gone on and on so I will go for now. I will be taking part of the weekend of but will have all of you in my heart.
Yours in Recovery,
Dee

Hi Everybody!

I've thought about all of you even while I've been working. We have had some much needed rain. My well has gotten shallow and needed this rain to get it up again. I want you all to know what a lot of help you have given me by reading your posts. It lets me know I'm not the only one who feels a certain way. I think constipation has a lot to do with back pain. I still have a problem with this and try to go naturally. Oh well, what you going to do?

Cathy, your dog looks a lot like my dog, Hardtime. She passed away six years ago. I have her son, Pete and he is twenty two years old this August. The poor thing is getting down in his hips and his eyes are going. He was brendle, but now he looks grey. I love him with all my heart. Everything I have around me is getting old. My horses are 28 and 20 something. I got one from the track and even her tattoo under her lip had been stamped out. They told me her name was Daisy Mae. I renamed her Sass Em Back. Anyway, I hope they all go before I do cause I would hate to leave them without me. They are too old for anyone to care about except me.

Anyway I'm glad people are posting back and forth. For a long while it was just me and Dee untill we made friends and got people to share. People have left their imprint on our lives and wonder how they are doing. I hope they went on to living a better life and doing well.

We have been lucky with having some wonderful people join us if even just for a short while. I read back once in a while and get something out of what they had to say each time I do.

Love,
Barbara

Hi Barbara, You must really take extra good care of your pets. It is very rare for a dog to live that long. I heard of horses living until their 30 but that is far and few in between. The dog in the picture is our youngest. He is a German Short Hair. He is about 4 years old now. He is a shelter dog that Jon's ex got. She was going to take him back there because she couldn't handle him so I took him. His name is Stormin Norman.

I hope eveybody is having a great week!

Hi Everone,

I was catching up reading through all of the posts and noticed something. What happened with Beth? I remember when I first came to this forum she was very into posting and welcoming everyone. She was very helpful and polite. Her post's were very supportive and helpful.

Beth, I hope everything is going well for you. I know how isolation can be comfortable. It's been my best friend for years. I just hope you are well.

God Bless,

Hi George,
It is great to see you. I hope things are well with you.
Beth is still a member of the forum, although she is no longer a moderator. She was going through a lot of personal issues but the last time that I talked to her things were starting to get better and she had applied for a position in a women's recovery center, but I am not sure if she has started work there yet.
She has brought much kindness into the lives of our members.
I too wish that she would stay in touch though.
Enjoy your day,

Hey George!

So good to hear from you. You sound happy. I'm happy. I got off of Suboxone two months ago or so. Dee remembers exactly when, it's all a blurr to me. I'm able to go to work, but the last few hours are hard to take. I still have some sick times, but I'll tough it out and feel so much stronger after it passes. I hope one day to an even tone to take place. Let us hear from you.

Hi everyone,
I planted some peppers over the weekend. It was so cool to start my vegtable garden. I looked fo some cucumbers but no luck yet. I might just start some from seed. Last year we had so much rain that my tomatos got blight so I can't plant them in my garden this year unless I get a hybrid type. We'll see.
A story comes to mind when I think about my garden. I used to love working in the garden when I was taking percs. As a matter of fact, I used to like to do a lot of things when I was high. Suboxone has done so much for me in such a short time. I have so much ambition these days and my depression is a thing of the past.
Im just so grateful that I found this way of life. It's been over 1 month since my induction and sometimes things get bad, but not too bad for me to start using again. What a life saver suboxone is.

Hi George, I am happy to hear you are working on your garden. Does your wife get to can all the vegtables? I hear it is an art form. We had vegtable gardens but I never learned to can. Maybe that is something I should teach myself this summer.

We all have good days and bad days. I been on Suboxone for almost two years now. I can promise you the good days will out weight the bad days. I still have problems that crop up but it is getting easier to deal with them. I might have to talk to somebody for support and get their ideas but I no longer go off the deep end thinking my world is coming to an end.

George I hope you enjoy your week. Talk to you soon.

Hi George
As always it is good to see you.
It looks like today would be a great day to be working out in the yard here in Vermont. So far the sun is shining and it is 55 outside. We are supposed to hit 79 but I am not sure if we will make it. At any rate I am happy for the sun.

I don't have very much of a front yard and no backyard as I live in an apartment house. But I do have that small patch out front and that is where I have my birdbaths. I would like to grow a couple of veggies this year, maybe some tomatoes as I love fresh tomatoes and some strawberries as well. I know I can grow them in containers. You will have to explain to me about hybrids as I don't know a lot about gardening when it comes to veggies. Today I am putting in some inpatients out on the front porch. So we can enjoy them when we sit out there in the afternoons.
I love it when the sun shines, it gives me so much more energy.
I like you, did a lot of things when I was using. The problem was though that I really didn't finish anything. Great ideas, but no real completion. My son used to say that he could tell when someone was an addict by the way they always had things started but never finished.
How observant he was. I am grateful for this change and for the opportunity to spend the remainder of my life enjoying the simple pleasures.
It is hard to believe that you have already hit your one month anniversary. We are all very proud of you. You made a decision and stuck with it through all the pain you were going through. I know it wasn't easy as you did hit some stumbling blocks along the way but you persisted and that is what make you who you are today.
Enjoy your day.
Yours in Recovery,
Dee
