Hi, I have been on suboxone for 16 months. I could no longer afford to pay the doctor for any more visits--cash only. i cut myself down to 1/16th of an 8mg sub, and three days later I had full-blown withdrawal, so severe restless legs that I did not sleep for 5 nights. I don't have any faith in this anymore--I believe these doctors are scamming for cash and I am so sick, I cannot take care of my family and am so broke and lost all my faith in the medical field. My husband is disabled and now we have nothing and I am so disappointed--they told me I would be fine and now I don't know how to recover from this withdrawal. thanks for llistening. Sorry to burst your bubble--this is a very dangerous cure and very potent drug.

Hi Giannama, Welcome to the forum! I think we need a little more information from you in order to help you. We need to know when you took your last dose of Suboxone. Are you in contact with your Sub doctor? We need to know how long was your taper? I think you need to talk to your regular doctor. He could prescribe medication to help with the withdrawal process. If you think your life is in danger go to the ER of a hosiptal. Are you drinking fluids and eating? Are you holding anything down.

If you did not want to come off of the Suboxone you can look into medical coverage like Medicade. The company thats makes Suboxone also has Fin.Assistants. The information on that is on this forum. Also our moderators are Dee and Barbara. Once they see your post they will be able to help you more than I can. So Hang ON!

Cathy

HI giannama,
My name is Dee and I am one of the moderators of The Light At The End of The Tunnel.
I am sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. Cathy is right with the advise she just gave to you. The makers of Suboxone do have a patient Assistance Program that will pay for one years worth of Suboxone. Are you still a patient of your provider or did you just stop going to him? I understand your being upset, I agree Suboxone is a very expensive medication. But there are ways to get yourself some help. If that is what you want to do.
I wish you could have found us sooner before you had to go through all of this suffering.

It is unfortunate that you had such a bad experience. The truth is that Suboxone has helped many people to turn their lives around. How long has it been since you took any Suboxone?
When you say that you cut yourself down to a 1/16th of an 8mg tablet, do you mean that you took that for some time as a taper or you cut yourself off cold turkey after taking that amount of a dose one time?
Who told you that you would be fine? Did they know that you are in withdrawal? Or that you would have to stop taking your Suboxone?

You don't have to apologize for anything that you said. Suboxone is a very strong medication, and anyone who stops it suddenly will suffer from withdrawal. You are in withdrawal and pain it is understandable that you are upset.
Cathy also mentioned Medicaid to you. Do you know if you qualify or are you already on Medicaid? In most states Medicaid will pay for Suboxone.
If you are unable to take care of yourself right now, then you need to go to the hospital emergency room. Tell them that you were a Suboxone patient and that you need help with your withdrawal. Maybe they can give you something to help you feel more comfortable.
If you want to try to get back on Suboxone, Then maybe we can help you find a provider in your area that is either willing to treat you on a sliding scale, or medicaid, or even you may be able to get back into your old provider under the Patient Assistance Program.
Whatever you want to do we are willing to try and help you with it. You are not alone and we do care about you.
Please check back in and let us know how you are doing.
Make sure that you get plenty of fluids and although it is hard to eat, please try to see if you can at least get some soup or broth into your body. You need to build your strength up.
Don't give up.
Dee

Hi,
As all has said, you haven't come this far to run out of solutions now. The next corner you turn may have your answers and help can come in many forms. Just make yourself available to help and look for a solution. I wish you the best. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are.
Good night for now,
Love,
Barbara

Hi G.

I'm wondering how you are and if you made a way to continue your recovery. Please answer and let me know. It tears my heart away from my body to feel what some people are going through. You have a lot more than you think. You have a strong mind and soul. I know you have or you would not have come this far. Whatever you do, don't cave. A little over two months ago, I came off and got down to one milligram and stuck to it. I went through the valley of torment and torture, but I kept telling myself, "It's the way that is so hard and it's going to get better." I still have maddening cravings and I know the insanity will return to strike me down, if I let it.
As I ask, please if you are still coming here, let us know how you are. Even if it's not good, I want to know. Share with me your tears or whatever you are going through.

Yours in the struggle,
Barbara
