GETTING SUB FILLED

Hello, I just needed to get something out because today i went to get my sub filled and find out at the last minute that iv got to have a pre auth again! I go through this every 3 or 4 months!So any way tommorow i have to get up with out my sub untill my DR gets a pre auth form sent to the ins company! I take my sub first thing in the morning!There are times when this happens that i can get through all this but things are already hard right now because iv got alot going on and this is just the last thing i needed at this point in my life!I just am so upset because i have to pay my insurance on time every month so why can they play with my medacine like this! I also am having a hard time getting another med filled which is a physc med and because of that im not mentally strong enough to handel not having my sub too!I have been on sub for over a year and should not have to go through this all the time! It is times like now that i feel very degraded when it comes to my addiction and some times feel like i would be better off just useing at least i did not care what people thought than!im sorry if i give any body negative feelings about sub because its not the sub its trying to stay on it ! I went through the same thing last month when I had to fill my prescription. I have to have mine pre-authorized once a year. Not as bad as yours I know.
Here's what you can do for the next time.
Call your insurance company and find out exactly how often your medication needs to be pre-authorized. Mark it on your calendar. If you have to have a pre authorization say like in September, remember that when you go in to your appointment in august. tell your doctor that you need him to contact your insurance company for the preauthorization. then when you need it, you won't have to wait because it will be done.
I am lucky. I have a great doctor. She made a note on the top of my chart when I needed the new pre-authorization. so when I went in for my appointment, I forgot to tell her about it. Since she had it wrote down she already knew about it and called the insurance company while I was sitting in front of her.
the phone call took her only 5 minutes, and by the time I got to the pharmacy it was all taken care of and I was able to fill my prescription.

You have every right to expect your medication when you need it. Not when the pharmacy or the insurance company decide that you need it. Call your doctor early first thing in the morning. Let them know how badly you need your medication. I wish that I could be there with you to help you through this. There are so many time that I wish we were all closer to each other and this is one of those times.
